Aaron Young
Chief Aaron Young has been a dedicated leader of the Chiniki First Nation for nearly three decades, serving multiple terms as Chief since first being elected to Council in 1996. A strong advocate for preserving Chiniki culture, language and traditions, he believes the strength of the Nation lies in empowering youth and families while honouring ancestral widsom. His leadership emphasizes education, safe communities and sustainable development, alongside a deep commitment to retaining and expanding the Stoney language. Known for integrity, teamwork and a “can-do” spirit, Chief Young continues to guide the Chiniki First Nation with respect for tradition, courage in decision-making and a vision that balances cultural heritage with modern opportunities.

Verna Powderface
Verna Powderface is a dedicated public servant for the Chiniki First Nation, committed to improving the lives of elders, children and future generations through a balance of tradition and modern governance. She is a strong advocate for Stoney Nakoda language, culture and identity, recognizing their vital role in fostering belonging and continuity. With both traditional and formal education, Verna brings the skills and integrity needed to guide governance and economic progress. Her leadership emphasizes fairness, inclusivity and social justice while advancing initiatives in education, transparency and policy change. Grounded in Nakoda traditional values and ethics, she continues to be a trusted voice for her community, working toward a safer, healthier and more prosperous future for all.
